- Now Download and install Huawei Mobile Partner Software, it will work on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 as well.
- Now Open the Huawei Mobile Partner from the desktop, and if asked use your unlock code you have generated in the step 2.
- Create new profile for you network provider (Using APN and User name and password), try to connect to the internet now.

Sir I have tried to follow the whole procedure but it is refusing to install the firmware when it gets to download the programs it says update failed. What could be the problem is there a new firmware that i can install on this modem huawei e173, because I need the freedom to use other simcards. I am from Kenya.

I Followed the instructions of updating E173 modem you sent.When i put the Flash code it starts downloading programs and it does not complete it. but later this is the message get:

i have an E173.i have reset the counter and unlocked and it has worked.but when i unplug it and replug it tells me only accepted sim/usim can be used.pliz hlp.thanks

My computer definitely detects my Huawei E173 T Mobile modem, because as I plug it in the “T Mobile Internet Manager set up wizard” automatically launches.
However as soon as I run the firmware update wizard B427 as you suggest, halfway through it says
“The data card can’t be found. Error code 2:
One of the following reasons may cause the error:
a. The data card is not properly connected to PC.”
The programme then closes itself.
b. Other programme is using data card.
c. You do not have the authority of the administrator.
When you get a minute, can you please tell me why it doesnt work.
This is using the T-Mobile dongle purchased and used in UK, with a T-Mobile SIM in it that is registered and works.

Well, some progress.
I have installed the T-Mobile Internet manager, and that allows the update programme to see the dongle. I then proceed to update, but it comes up with the error message at the end
